INSTRUCTOR

Alex Leiva is a Boston-based musician, producer, and recording engineer. Alex had an early introduction to music through piano before shifting his focus to trumpet, which he has played professionally for nearly 20 years. His early experiences performing with jazz ensembles, concert bands, and orchestras prepared him to play with DownBeat Award-winning jazz ensemble JE1 at the University of North Florida from 2013 – 2015. After two years of intensive jazz studies and performance with internationally acclaimed artists, Alex transferred to Berklee College of Music in Boston, where he graduated summa cum laude with a Bachelor’s in Music Production and Engineering. At Berklee, his performance experience expanded to include film scores, pop, gospel, mariachi, and more. Alex held several roles at Berklee following graduation, including a two-year tenure on the board of admissions. He continues to work as a producer and engineer with projects in acclaimed recording studios like Abbey Road and Power Station.

Today, Alex is enjoying a renewed connection with piano, production projects with folk and bluegrass artists, collaborations with youth music organizations, and orchestral recording
