INSTRUCTOR
Kuan-Pei Chen is a Taiwanese music educator currently pursuing her Doctor of Musical Arts at Boston University under the guidance of Bayla Keyes. A versatile performer and dedicated teacher, she was recently named winner of the 2026 Boston University Bach Competition, culminating in a featured performance at Boston University’s Concert Hall.
As an educator, Ms. Chen teaches violin, viola, and piano, along with music theory, working with students across a wide range of ages and levels. She has served as a Graduate Teaching Assistant at Boston University since 2024, teaching undergraduate Aural Skills, and provides instruction to non-music majors at the university alongside a private studio for students ages 5–12. Her multi-instrument teaching background, paired with a minor in Children’s Bilingual Education completed during her undergraduate studies, informs a pedagogical approach that adapts across instruments, learning styles, and backgrounds.
Since 2022, Ms. Chen has been a member of the Boston Philharmonic Orchestra, performing in world-renowned venues such as Carnegie Hall and Boston’s Symphony Hall. Her ensemble experience includes the Green Mountain Chamber Music Festival (2022, 2023), supported by scholarships, and a fellowship with the National Repertory Orchestra in 2024.
Ms. Chen holds a Bachelor of Music from National Taiwan Normal University, where she studied with Yi-Tsao Wang. She began her violin studies at age six, mentored by Xiao-Fang Huang and Hui-Wen Yang.
