Rebecca Helm

MUSIC DIRECTOR

Originally from Louisville, Kentucky, Rebecca Helm began her study of piano and violin at the early age of two. She obtained her Bachelor of Music degree from Oberlin Conservatory in both piano performance and vocal accompanying and began her Masters degree on a full scholarship in accompanying at the University of Miami. While in Miami, she was on faculty at the New World School of the Arts as staff vocal accompanist/coach.

She has been in attendance at the Aspen Music Festival and School, the Bowdoin International Music Festival, and the Oberlin in Italy program in addition to receiving various awards at competitions including the Kingsville International Competition, New York Piano Competition,and the Oberlin International Piano Competition.  

Rebecca was on faculty at the Yamaha Music School of Boston as a Yamaha Music Education System Specialist, International Teacher Trainer, and Education Supervisor from 2008-2017 and is currently focusing on her role as Music Director at Go Go Allegro School of Music which she founded in 2007. Rebecca was proudly awarded the Steinway Top Teacher Award in 2017, 2018, 2020, 2021 and 2022 and is a founding member of Sorella Duo, a cello/piano duo, that released their first album in 2018. She is currently on the Board of Directors as Communication Chair for the Massachusetts Music Teacher Association (MMTA), serves as Vice President of the New England Piano Teachers’ Association (NEPTA), and is a member of the Music Teacher National Association (MTNA) and Concord Area Music School Association (CAMSA).

Hobbies/Interests: Spending time with my family and 4 teacup shih tzus, Simba, Nala, Mosi & Pili, traveling

Something most people don’t know about you: I broke my wrist a week after graduating from college and Danny DeVito signed the bright pink cast!
