Rebecca Tobar
ADMINISTRATION
Rebecca is from Long Island, New York, where she began playing trumpet at the age of 8. She fell in love with playing in the pit orchestras in her high school years, participated in the Metropolitan Youth Orchestra, Nassau-Suffolk Wind Symphony, and was recognized at NYSSMA All-State. Currently, Rebecca is a senior at the University of Massachusetts Amherst, where she is completing a BA in Classical Trumpet Performance, a minor in Spanish, and an Arts Management Certificate.
She has taken an interest in arts management courses and plans to pursue a career in performing arts administration, in hopes of helping to spread a love for classical music to a greater audience.
Rebecca’s leadership and administration experiences include holding the position of Vice President at UMass Amherst’s Chapter of the International Trumpet Guild, the Pioneer Valley Trumpet Guild, and most recently working as a seasonal intern with the Boston Symphony Orchestra in the Public Relations/Press office at Tanglewood Music Festival.

Practice Tips: Work on singing your piece BEFORE you play it, to really make sure it’s in your ear! Having an aural image of your ideal sound can help you tremendously in your practice.
