Rukan Khondker is originally from Potsdam, NY, between the Adirondack mountains and Canada! From a young age, she participated in music at school, before becoming more serious about her interest in singing through select choirs, voice lessons and musical productions. She went on to study music education at the College of Saint Rose in Albany, NY. Various achievements from Albany include winning the Patricia Brady-Danzig Concerto Competition in 2014, and being distinguished as the Outstanding Senior in Music Education of 2016. As a soprano, Rukan has been a guest artist at the Daniel Ferro Vocal Program in Greve in Chianti, Italy as well as the Midwest Institute of Opera.
Rukan built the beginnings of her career in and around Albany, NY, before moving to Boston in the summer of 2020. She taught general music and chorus at the Ichabod Crane Central School District in Valatie, NY, as well as voice, piano and ukulele lessons at Rocky’s Music Studio in East Greenbush, NY. Over four years, these experiences brought her immeasurable experience in working with individuals of all ages, ability levels, and working with students who are learning English as a new language. She discovered her passion as a voice teacher, and making the learning of music accessible to anybody and everybody. Through this time, Rukan maintained a performing schedule, subbing in at local churches as well as gigging in the Capital Region.
In the fall of 2020, Rukan began the M.M. Vocal Pedagogy program at the Boston Conservatory at Berklee with a completion date of Spring 2022. She is currently a student of Ms. Angela Gooch.
